The Kerala tradition of horary divination using 8 auspicious objects – cowrie shells cast thrice to build a chart from Deva Prashna methodology
Ashtamangala Prashna is a unique Kerala astrological tradition practiced extensively in temples as "Deva Prashna." "Ashta" = eight, "Mangala" = auspicious – eight sacred objects are used to divine the answer to a question. This method is described in detail in the Prashna Marga text and is still regularly practiced in major Kerala temples today.
