Unlike scoring-only systems, it rejects on fatal flaws first: Ganda/Vyatipata/Vaidhriti yogas are absolute vetoes for samskaras, Dagdha Tithi and Nakshatra Gandanta block windows outright. Only after passing these hard filters does scoring apply. The 5-tier cancellation hierarchy ensures strong lagna can cancel minor defects (weak karana, dur muhurtam) but CANNOT override inauspicious yoga or dagdha tithi  –  matching classical practice where one fatal dosha invalidates an otherwise good muhurta. Each activity has classically verified nakshatra whitelists (not permissive "everything not forbidden" lists). With birth data, the engine adds Tara Bala (3-cycle degradation), Chandra Bala (with Ashtama Chandra penalty), and Dasha Harmony.

The Muhurta AI always uses Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsha for scoring, regardless of your kundali ayanamsha preference. This is because all classical muhurta rule tables  –  from Muhurta Chintamani, Dharma Sindhu, and Prashna Marga  –  were composed using Lahiri nakshatra boundaries. Applying those rules with a different ayanamsha (KP, Raman) would shift the boundaries and produce less accurate results. Your birth chart and panchang pages still use your chosen ayanamsha for display.
