Recitation of the Ketu Beej Mantra is a profound practice in Jyotish, primarily undertaken to harmonise the energies of Ketu in one's natal chart. This mantra is particularly recommended for individuals experiencing the planetary period (Dasha) or sub-period (Antardasha) of Ketu, or when Ketu is unfavourably placed, debilitated, or afflicted by malefic planets, leading to confusion, anxiety, spiritual stagnation, or unexpected losses. While Ketu is not inherently malevolent, it acts as a karmic agent, bringing forth the results of past actions, often through experiences of detachment and spiritual awakening. Chanting this mantra helps to mitigate the challenging effects of an afflicted Ketu and enhance its positive attributes, such as spiritual insight, intuition, and the pursuit of liberation (moksha). The ideal time for japa (repetition) is during the Ketu Hora, or on Tuesdays or Saturdays, which are traditionally associated with malefic planets and thus suitable for their pacification. Early morning (Brahma Muhurta) or after sunset are also considered auspicious. A minimum of 108 repetitions, using a Rudraksha mala, is prescribed for daily practice, though 1008 repetitions are often recommended for significant astrological remediation. Prior purification through bathing and wearing clean clothes, along with sitting on a clean mat in a quiet space, enhances the efficacy of the practice. This Beej Mantra serves as a potent, concentrated form of worship, complementing other Ketu mantras, such as the Puranic Ketu Mantra, by directly invoking the planet's core energy. It is not merely about averting misfortune but about aligning with Ketu's deeper spiritual purpose, fostering introspection, and facilitating spiritual growth.
