The 27 Soli-Lunar Combinations — Union of Sun and Moon
A Yoga is determined by the sum of the sidereal longitudes of the Sun and Moon. The 360° arc is divided into 27 equal parts of 13°20' each. When the combined longitude of Sun and Moon falls within a particular segment, that Yoga is in effect. Unlike Tithi (which depends on the difference), Yoga depends on the sum — hence it captures the combined "energy" of both luminaries. Each Yoga lasts approximately one day but varies because both the Sun and Moon are in continuous motion.
Formula: Yoga = floor((Sun_sidereal + Moon_sidereal) / 13.333) + 1
