The 8 Gauri periods, their weekday rotation, and how to use them for daily timing decisions
Gauri Panchang (Gowri Panchangam) is a traditional Vedic time-division system widely used in South India. Each day and night is divided into 8 equal parts of ~90 minutes each.
The 8 periods cycle: Amritha, Siddha, Marana, Rogam, Laabha, Dhanam, Sugam, Sokam.
Each weekday starts at a different position in the cycle.
| वार | पहला गौरी |
|---|---|
| रविवार | शोक |
| सोमवार | अमृत |
| मंगलवार | मरण |
| बुधवार | लाभ |
| गुरुवार | सुगम |
| शुक्रवार | सिद्ध |
| शनिवार | रोग |
Use Amritha for new ventures, Laabha for finance, Sugam for travel, Siddha for exams and contracts.
लाभ, धन
सुगम, अमृत
अमृत, सिद्ध
राहु काल, यमगण्ड, या गुलिक काल में अमृत गौरी हो तो भी सावधानी बरतें — अशुभ आवरण प्राथमिकता पर है।
Both systems share the same time-division shape but use different period names and rotations.
