हिरण्यकशिपुः स्वपुत्रं प्रह्लादं विष्णुभक्तेः कारणात् हन्तुम् अप्रयतत। तस्य भगिनी होलिका अग्निसुरक्षावरदानयुक्ता प्रह्लादं गृहीत्वा अग्नौ उपाविशत्। किन्तु होलिका दग्धा प्रह्लादः च सुरक्षितः।
