Significance & When to Recite

Karva Chauth is observed on Kartik Krishna Chaturthi by married Hindu women for the longevity and health of their husbands. Women fast from sunrise to moonrise without food or water. The fast is broken after sighting the moon through a sieve and then viewing the husband's face. It is one of the most widely observed fasts in North India.
