Tippanni – Your Chart Interpretation Guide
How your birth chart is transformed from raw data into meaningful life insights
What is a Tippanni?
A Tippanni (टिप्पणी) is a written commentary on your birth chart. Traditionally, an astrologer would study a Kundali and write a detailed interpretation covering personality, life events, timing, strengths, challenges, and remedies. Our system generates this algorithmically – analyzing every planet placement, house lordship, yoga, dosha, dasha period, and shadbala score to produce a comprehensive interpretation.
Think of it as your chart's user manual – a structured, readable document that translates astronomical positions and mathematical relationships into practical life guidance. It's not a prediction of fixed destiny – it's a map of tendencies, strengths, and optimal timing.
How the Tippanni is Generated
Our engine processes your birth chart through multiple analytical layers, then synthesizes the results into natural language. The key insight: when 3+ factors converge on the same theme, that theme becomes a strong life pattern. A single indicator is weak; convergence creates certainty.
Personality Section – The Three Pillars
The personality section analyzes three pillars – your Ascendant (Lagna), Moon sign, and Sun sign – to build a multi-dimensional picture of who you are. These three together reveal your outer persona, emotional core, and life purpose respectively.
Ascendant (Lagna)
Your outer self – physical body, appearance, first impressions, natural behavior. This is the "mask" you wear and the lens through which you experience the world. It determines your physical constitution (Aries rising = athletic, Cancer rising = nurturing).
Moon Sign
Your inner self – mind, emotions, instinctive reactions, what makes you feel safe, your emotional needs. The Moon sign is often more accurate than the Sun sign for describing daily experience. This is who you are when no one is watching.
Sun Sign
Your soul's purpose – ego, ambition, core identity, what you want to be known for. In Vedic astrology the Sun sign is calculated differently (sidereal vs tropical), so your Vedic Sun sign may differ from your Western one.
Planet Insights – What Each Placement Means
Each of the 9 Grahas is analyzed individually: its sign placement, house placement, dignity (exalted, own, friendly, neutral, enemy, debilitated), aspects received, and conjunctions. The result tells you how each cosmic force operates in YOUR specific chart.
Pay special attention to your Atmakaraka (planet at highest degree) – it reveals your soul's deepest desire and karmic mission in this lifetime. Also note the Yogakaraka planet – the one that simultaneously lords over a Kendra and Trikona house, giving it special power to deliver positive results.
Yogas – Your Installed Bonus Features
Yogas are specific planetary patterns that indicate life themes. Our engine checks for 40+ classical yogas from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra and Phaladeepika. Each detected yoga is explained with its formation (which planets, which houses) and practical effect.
Important: a yoga's strength depends on the strength of its constituent planets. A Raja Yoga formed by weak, combust, or debilitated planets will give far less than one formed by exalted, well-placed planets. The Tippanni factors this in.
Doshas – Not Death Sentences
Doshas are challenging planetary configurations. Our engine checks for Mangal Dosha (Mars in houses 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 12 from Lagna, Moon, and Venus), Kaal Sarpa Dosha (all planets hemmed between Rahu and Ketu), and Pitru Dosha (Sun afflicted by malefics). Each dosha includes its severity assessment and specific remedial measures.
- •Is it actually formed in your chart? Many "Manglik" charts don't actually meet the classical criteria.
- •Is it cancelled? Manglik Dosha has over 10 cancellation conditions. Kala Sarpa is cancelled if any planet is with Rahu/Ketu.
- •How strong is it? A dosha from a well-placed Mars (own sign, aspected by Jupiter) is much milder than one from an afflicted Mars.
- •Remedies are given – not as superstition, but as practical methods to channel the difficult energy constructively.
Life Areas – Houses Map to Real Life
The 10th house is primary. Its lord, occupants, and aspects determine career direction. The 6th house shows daily work style. The 2nd shows income, the 11th shows gains and networks.
The 2nd house shows accumulated wealth and family money. The 11th shows income streams. The 5th shows speculative gains. The 9th shows fortune and luck.
The 7th house is the primary marriage house. Its lord's placement reveals spouse characteristics. Venus (natural significator of marriage) and Jupiter (for women's husband) are key.
The 1st house and its lord indicate overall constitution. The 6th house shows diseases and immune response. The 8th shows chronic conditions and longevity.
The 5th house governs intelligence and learning ability. The 4th is formal education. The 9th is higher education and wisdom. Mercury and Jupiter are the knowledge planets.
Dasha Insight – Your Current Life Chapter
The Vimshottari Dasha system divides your life into planetary periods. The Tippanni identifies your current Maha Dasha (major period), Antar Dasha (sub-period), and Pratyantar Dasha (sub-sub-period), then explains what themes each activates based on the dasha lord's position and lordships in your chart.
- •The Mahadasha lord's strength (Shadbala) – can it deliver good or challenging results?
- •Which houses the Dasha lord rules and occupies – what life areas are activated
- •The Antardasha lord's relationship with the Mahadasha lord – friendly, neutral, or hostile
- •Any yogas involving the Dasha lord that become active during this period
Strength Overview – Shadbala Percentages
Shadbala (six-fold strength) is the most comprehensive measure of a planet's power. Each planet is scored across six dimensions: positional (sthana bala), directional (dig bala), temporal (kala bala), motional (chesta bala), natural (naisargika bala), and aspectual (drik bala). The Tippanni presents these scores visually and explains which planets are your chart's strongest and weakest actors.
Year Predictions – Transits + Dasha
The year predictions section combines multiple timing techniques to give you a forecast for the current year: Sade Sati status, Jupiter transit effects, Rahu-Ketu axis impact, current dasha transitions, and quarterly outlook based on fast planet transits.
Transits (Gochar)
Where are the planets RIGHT NOW in the sky, and which houses of your birth chart are they activating? Slow planets matter most: Jupiter (1 year per sign), Saturn (2.5 years), and Rahu/Ketu (1.5 years). The Tippanni checks if you are in Sade Sati (Saturn over Moon), Jupiter return, or Rahu-Ketu axis transit.
Dashas
Your current Mahadasha and Antardasha set the base vibration. Transits over the Dasha lord's natal position intensify its effects. When both Dasha and transit point to the same theme (e.g., Saturn Dasha + Saturn transiting 10th house = intense career focus), the prediction is strong.
Remedies – Gemstones, Mantras, Practices
The Tippanni concludes with targeted remedial suggestions based on the specific weaknesses and doshas detected in your chart. These are not generic "one-size-fits-all" remedies – they are algorithmically matched to your chart's specific planetary needs.
Gemstones (Ratna)
Each planet has an associated gemstone that amplifies its energy. Gemstones should ONLY be worn for benefic planets or planets whose energy you want to strengthen. Wearing a gemstone for a malefic planet can intensify problems. The Tippanni recommends stones only for planets that are functional benefics for your Ascendant.
Mantras
Specific Sanskrit mantras for each planet that, when chanted with regularity and devotion, harmonize the planet's vibration. The number of repetitions (japa) varies by planet. Mantras work through sound vibration – the physical resonance affects consciousness.
Practices (Upaya)
Specific actions aligned with each planet: charity on the planet's day, fasting, serving the planet's karakas (e.g., serving the elderly for Saturn), visiting related temples, and lifestyle adjustments. These redirect the planetary energy constructively.
Mapping Life Questions to Tippanni Sections
Not sure where to start reading your Tippanni? Here is a quick reference for the most common life questions and which section answers them:
| Question | Which Section to Check |
|---|---|
| "What is my core personality?" | Personality section – Ascendant + Moon + Sun analysis |
| "When will my career improve?" | Dasha Insight + Year Predictions – check when 10th house lord's Dasha or favorable transit activates |
| "Am I Manglik? Will it affect my marriage?" | Dosha section – checks Mars position, cancellation factors, and actual severity |
| "What are my natural talents?" | Yogas section – Raja and Dhana yogas reveal inherent gifts |
| "Why am I struggling right now?" | Dasha Insight + Strength Overview – a weak planet's Dasha or challenging transit explains current difficulties |
| "What gemstone should I wear?" | Remedies section – recommends stones ONLY for functional benefics, not just any planet |
| "Is this a good time to start a business?" | Year Predictions + Dasha Insight – check if current Dasha and transits support entrepreneurship (2nd, 7th, 10th, 11th houses active) |
| "What will the next few years bring?" | Year Predictions – combines Dasha transitions with major transit events (Jupiter/Saturn sign changes) |
Understanding Convergence – When Multiple Factors Agree
The most powerful insight in chart reading: when multiple independent factors point to the same conclusion, that conclusion is almost certain to manifest. A single indicator is suggestive; three or more factors converging on the same theme creates a near-certainty.
Career Success Convergence
10th lord in Kendra + Raja Yoga involving 10th house + Strong Shadbala for 10th lord + Current Dasha activating 10th house + Jupiter transiting 10th house = almost certain career advancement
Relationship Challenge Convergence
7th lord debilitated + Manglik Dosha active + Venus combust + Saturn transiting 7th house + Rahu Dasha running = relationship area requires patience and inner work
Spiritual Growth Convergence
Ketu in 12th house + Jupiter aspecting Ketu + Ketu Dasha running + Saturn transiting 12th from Moon + Viparita Raja Yoga involving 12th lord = profound spiritual transformation period
Algorithmic vs Human Tippanni
Our algorithmic Tippanni covers the core framework systematically – it never misses a yoga, never miscalculates a shadbala score, and processes every chart consistently. However, a human astrologer brings intuitive synthesis that algorithms currently cannot replicate: reading the "story" of the chart as a whole, sensing which factors matter most for a specific question, and incorporating the client's lived experience into the interpretation.
| Aspect | Algorithmic | Human |
|---|---|---|
| Calculation accuracy | Perfect – arc-second precision, every time | Prone to manual errors |
| Yoga detection | Exhaustive – checks 40+ classical yogas | May miss rare yogas |
| Life context | Cannot incorporate | Integrates your story |
| Intuitive synthesis | Rule-based only | Sees the whole picture |
We recommend using our Tippanni as a foundation – a comprehensive, accurate, objective analysis – and then consulting a qualified astrologer for specific life questions where context and nuance matter.
Tips for Getting the Most from Your Tippanni
Read the personality section first – if the Ascendant and Moon descriptions resonate with you, the chart time is likely accurate. If they feel completely wrong, your birth time may need rectification.
Focus on the current Dasha period – while the entire chart is your life blueprint, the active Dasha tells you what chapter you are living RIGHT NOW.
Don't cherry-pick only positive yogas – the challenging combinations are equally valuable because they show where growth happens. A chart with zero challenges produces zero resilience.
Cross-reference with actual life events – the best way to validate your Tippanni is to check past Dasha periods against what actually happened during those years. This builds confidence in the system.
Remedies are suggestions, not obligations – the Tippanni may suggest gemstones, mantras, or practices. These are tools for optimization, not mandatory rituals. Use what resonates with you.
Revisit your Tippanni when Dasha changes – each new Dasha period activates different parts of your chart. The same Tippanni becomes freshly relevant as different themes come to the foreground.
Compare the Tippanni with the Transit Radar – the Radar shows which zodiac zones are currently favorable for you, while the Tippanni shows the permanent natal blueprint. Together, they give you both the terrain and the weather forecast.
Share your Patrika with family or a trusted astrologer – the Tippanni gains depth when discussed with someone who understands both the chart AND your life context. An astrologer can refine the algorithmic interpretation with human insight.
