ನಿಶಿತ ಕಾಲ (ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿ) ನಿಯಮ: ದೀಪಾವಳಿಯ ಹಿಂದಿನ ರಾತ್ರಿ, ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚತುರ್ದಶಿ ತಿಥಿಯು ಪ್ರಚಲಿತದಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ ಇದನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮುಂಜಾವಿನ ಅಭ್ಯಂಗ ಸ್ನಾನ (ತೈಲ ಸ್ನಾನ) ಹೊಸ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಶುದ್ಧೀಕರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಛೋಟಿ ದೀಪಾವಳಿ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.
