रथ सप्तमी सूर्य देव के जन्म का उत्सव है। इस दिन सूर्य ने सात अश्वों वाले रथ पर उत्तर दिशा की यात्रा आरम्भ की। भविष्य पुराण के अनुसार इस दिन सूर्य की किरणों ने सर्वप्रथम ब्रह्माण्ड को प्रकाशित किया।
कनाय पालन करब
भक्त सूर्योदय से पूर्व आक के पत्ते सिर और कन्धों पर रखकर स्नान करते हैं। सूर्य नमस्कार किया जाता है। लाल फूल, गेहूँ और गुड़ अर्पित करते हैं। आदित्य हृदयम् स्तोत्र का पाठ होता है।
