दोसर कथा कर्ण कऽ — कुन्ती-सूर्य कऽ पुत्र, दैनिक सूर्योपासक। कमर तक जल मे ठाढ़ भऽ कऽ सूर्याष्टक पाठ आ अंजुली सँ अर्घ्य। इयैह छठ-व्रती कऽ मुद्रा कऽ स्रोत।
तेसर कथा सीता कऽ — सीतामढ़ी मे छठ रखलनि।
चौथ कथा ब्रह्मवैवर्त सँ — छठी मैया देवसेना (स्कन्द कऽ पत्नी), बालक कऽ रक्षिका।
चारि दिनक संरचना: पहिल नहाय-खाय, दोसर खरना (36-घण्टा निर्जला आरम्भ), तेसर सन्ध्या अर्घ्य (डूबैत सूर्य लेल), चौथ उषा अर्घ्य (उगैत सूर्य लेल)।
एहि पर्व मे न पुरोहित, न मन्दिर, न मूर्ति — व्रती सीधे जल मे ठाढ़ भऽ कऽ दृश्य सूर्य सँ बात करैत छथि।

चारि दिनक कठोर उत्सव: पहिल दिन (नहाय खाय) – पवित्र स्नान आ एक भोजन; दोसर दिन (खरना) – दिनभरि उपवास, सूर्यास्त बाद खीर-रोटी; तेसर दिन (सन्ध्या अर्घ्य) – नदी वा तालाब मे ठाढ़ भऽ कऽ डूबैत सूर्य केँ अर्घ्य; चौथ दिन (उषा अर्घ्य) – उगैत सूर्य केँ अर्घ्य।
महत्व
