पहिल घटना — समुद्र मन्थन सँ धन्वन्तरि कें प्रकटन। भागवत पुराण आ विष्णु पुराण मन्थन कें वर्णन करैत अछि; चौदह रत्न एक-एक प्रकट भेल, अन्त मे धन्वन्तरि सोन कें कलश मे अमृत आ आयुर्वेद लय कय प्रकट भेलाह। ओ दिव्य वैद्य अछि, विष्णु कें अंशावतार।
दोसर घटना — दू दिन बाद कार्तिक अमावस्या कें ओही मन्थन सँ लक्ष्मी कें प्रकटन। धनतेरस पूर्व-तैयारी अछि — घर कें सफाई, धातु-क्रय।
तेसर कथा दक्षिण-दीप कें व्याख्या दैत अछि। स्कन्द पुराण मे राजा हिमा कें पत्नी धनतेरस कें रात्रि सोन-चान्दी द्वार पर राखि कय दीप जलयलनि आ रात भरि गायन कयलनि। यम सर्प रूप मे आबि कय तेज सँ आन्हर भय देहरी पर बैसि गेलाह; प्रहार कें समय निकलि गेल।
सोन खरीदय कें परम्परा तीनू कथा कें सङ्गम सँ निकलल अछि। आयुर्वेद परम्परा एहि दिन कें धन्वन्तरि जयन्ती मानैत अछि।
